Why Do I Need Performance Mastery Skills?

You don’t have to be a professional musician or making a debut at Carnegie Hall to be a successful performer.  Successful performers could be a 10-year old student preparing for their first eistedfodd, a VCE student achieving their dream mark, an amateur musician wanting to give their first recital, or an opera singer who has had several lead roles with the Australian Opera.  When we engage in an activity that is meaningful to us, it doesn’t matter what skill level we have reached or how old we are, what is important is that we can achieve our best and feel successful in what we do.  theperformancetrain helps performing artistes of all ages and ability levels learn critical skills that will help them  be the best that they can be.  These skills are not just important for those experiencing problems but are also essential to anyone who would like to improve or enhance their performances or who would like to build coping skills to equip them to manage any future challenges or issues.

You may be talented, motivated and skilled in your area of expertise but if you find that you:

  • Are having difficulty with nerves or anxiety;
  • Dwell on mistakes and get easily upset with yourself after mistakes;
  • Are easily distracted;
  • Have lost motivation;
  • Worry about what others are thinking;
  • Are thrown by memory lapses or mistakes;
  • Struggle to play up to your ability when the pressure is on (ie play great in practice but ‘choke’ in a performance);
  • Have inconsistent performances; or,
  • Want to get the edge on your competition;

then these are KEY indicators that you could benefit from developing performance mastery skills.
